NICOP fee by region
| Region | Normal | Urgent | Executive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zone A: USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, EU, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland | $39 | $57 | $75 |
| Zone B: Gulf states, Malaysia, other Asian and African countries | $20 | $30 | $40 |
NADRA's processing targets: about 31 days normal, 23 days urgent and 9 days executive, plus postage when the card is sent abroad.
Worked examples
A family of four in Dubai, urgent. 4 × $30 = $120. Paid by card in the Pak-ID app.
A student in the UK, normal. $39. If the card is charged at an assumed Rs 280 a dollar, that is about Rs 10,920.
A lost NICOP in Canada, executive. A duplicate costs the same as a new card: $75.
Speed makes the biggest difference for families. Five people in Saudi Arabia pay $100 on normal but $200 on executive. Renew early and normal service is usually enough.
The card payment is taken in dollars. Your bank decides the final rupee or pound amount, and some banks add a foreign transaction charge.
Applying at a mission instead of online
Fees at a Pakistani mission can differ from the Pak-ID amounts, because the mission adds its own processing charge. Pakistan's consulate in Toronto lists these for a new Smart NICOP:
| Service | NADRA fee | Consulate fee | Delivery |
|---|---|---|---|
| Normal | $65 | CAD 50 | 6 weeks |
| Urgent | $83 | CAD 60 | 4 weeks |
| Executive | $101 | CAD 60 | 2 weeks |
The consulate in Los Angeles gives the same 6, 4 and 2 weeks. At both, the NADRA fee is paid by credit card or Visa debit, and the consulate charge separately. In-person applications need an appointment, because NADRA takes a live photograph and fingerprints.
Documents for a NICOP
The Toronto consulate's lists are typical of what missions ask for:
- Renewal or modification: your expired NICOP, a valid passport (with a residence permit, work permit or study permit if the passport is Pakistani), your parents' CNIC or NICOP, your spouse's if married, and two references who are not blood relatives.
- First NICOP, adult born in Pakistan: your union council birth certificate, an old manual ID card or Matric certificate, a valid or expired Pakistani passport, residence papers and your parents' ID cards.
- First NICOP, adult born abroad: a birth record showing both parents' names, your foreign passport and your parents' ID cards.
- Children under 18: a birth certificate with both parents' names, the child's travel document and a parent or legal guardian present. Fingerprints are taken from age 10. A child born in Pakistan also needs the NADRA B-form.
- Lost card: a copy of the lost NICOP if you have one, plus your passport and residence papers.
NICOP or CNIC?
A NICOP is for Pakistanis who live, work or study abroad, and for dual nationals. It lets you enter Pakistan without a visa and does the same job as the ID card at home. If you are in Pakistan and not planning to live abroad, the ID card is cheaper: Rs 750 normal.
The Toronto consulate says a Smart NICOP is issued with seven years' validity whatever the applicant's age. For a Pakistani passport from abroad, see the passport fee calculator, which shows the US dollar fees published for the USA. Family certificates for visa files are on the FRC fee page.
Fees as listed on NADRA's Pak-ID overseas portal. Missions that take NICOP applications in person add their own processing charge in local currency and may take longer, as the Toronto and Los Angeles figures show.
