NADRA charges Rs 1,000 for a Family Registration Certificate (FRC) of one category, by birth, by marriage or by adoption, and Rs 2,000 for an FRC showing all categories together. NADRA's target is 1 day, and the certificate comes as a PDF you can print.

Pick the FRC type and the number of certificates. If an embassy, court or school has told you which category it wants, order only that one.

By birth (parents and siblings)Rs 1,000
By marriage (spouse and children)Rs 1,000
By adoptionRs 1,000
All categories togetherRs 2,000

There is one speed for the FRC. Unlike the ID card and B-form, NADRA does not list a cheaper normal option.

Which FRC do you need?

By birth

Shows you with your parents and brothers and sisters. Used in succession cases, for some school admissions and to prove who your parents are.

By marriage

Shows you with your spouse and your children. This is the one most embassies ask for in family visa cases. Your spouse and children must already be registered, the children with a B-form (CRC).

By adoption

Shows a guardian with an adopted child.

All categories

Combines birth, marriage and adoption links in one document. It costs the same as two single FRCs, so it only saves money if you need all three.

Documents you need

The FRC is built from what NADRA already holds, so there is little paperwork. Pakistan's consulate in Toronto asks applicants for:

  • the 13-digit ID number of every family member who should appear (CNIC, NICOP, Pakistan Origin Card or B-form)
  • each name spelled as it is in NADRA's record
  • a photograph of the applicant and of each family member under 18

Anyone without a 13-digit NADRA number will not appear on the certificate. If a child has no B-form, or your parents' details are missing from your record, fix that first. A B-form costs Rs 50 on normal.

How to apply in Pakistan

  1. Check the record. Every relative you want listed needs a NADRA number, and your own ID card should be valid. Renew it first if it has expired; see the ID card fee.
  2. Apply. Use the Pak-ID app or website, or visit a NADRA registration centre. Choose the category: by birth, by marriage, by adoption or all.
  3. Pay. Rs 1,000 for one category or Rs 2,000 for all. Online applications are paid by card.
  4. Download. The certificate arrives as a PDF. Embassies often want a recent one, so do not order it months before a visa appointment.

Overseas Pakistanis and NICOP holders

You can apply through Pak-ID from abroad, or at a Pakistani mission by appointment. A mission can add its own charge on top of the NADRA fee:

  • Canada (Toronto consulate): a CAD 50 processing fee plus the NADRA fee. The NADRA part is paid by credit card or Visa debit, the consulate part by debit card.
  • Australia (Sydney consulate): lists the FRC on executive processing only, paid by credit or debit card; cash is not taken.

The Toronto and Los Angeles consulates say the FRC reaches your email as a PDF within one to two working days of a successful application.

Worked examples

A spouse visa for the UK. The embassy wants proof of marriage and of the couple's children. One FRC by marriage: Rs 1,000.

A succession case. The heirs need to show the deceased's parents and siblings, and also his wife and children. That is an FRC by birth and an FRC by marriage, or one FRC for all categories at Rs 2,000. The single certificate is easier to file. NADRA's succession certificate application needs the FRC and the death certificate.

Three brothers each applying for visas. Each needs his own FRC by birth: 3 × Rs 1,000 = Rs 3,000.

Common problems

  • A relative is missing. They have no NADRA number, or the link was never recorded. Register them, or update your record, then apply again.
  • A spelling is wrong. You can correct the English spelling of a name on the FRC, but you cannot change a family member's name through the FRC application.
  • Wrong category. A certificate by birth does not show your children. Check the embassy or court checklist before paying.

Fees from NADRA's fee table. Confirm the amount in the Pak-ID app before paying, and at a mission check its own processing charge.

FRC questions

What is the FRC fee in NADRA?

Rs 1,000 for an FRC by birth, by marriage or by adoption, and Rs 2,000 for an FRC showing all categories. NADRA's processing target is 1 day. A mission abroad may add its own processing charge on top.

Which FRC is needed for a visa?

Most family visa files ask for the FRC by marriage, which lists spouse and children. Some embassies ask for the FRC by birth to prove parents. Check the embassy checklist and order only that category, at Rs 1,000.

Can I get an FRC online?

Yes. NADRA offers the FRC through the Pak-ID app and website as well as at registration centres. The certificate is sent as a PDF, which you print.

How long does an FRC take?

NADRA's target is 1 day. Pakistan's consulates in Toronto and Los Angeles say the PDF reaches your email within one to two working days after the application is submitted.

Can I get an FRC from abroad?

Yes. Apply through Pak-ID, or book an appointment at your Pakistani mission. The Toronto consulate charges CAD 50 on top of the NADRA fee; other missions set their own charges.

Why is my child not on my FRC?

The child has no NADRA registration, so there is no 13-digit number to link. Get a B-form for the child first, at Rs 50 on normal, then apply for the FRC by marriage.
