Enter the gas used (in hm3) and the GCV from your SNGPL bill. For a non-protected home using 1.2 hm3 at GCV 942, the figure on a September 2026 SNGPL bill, the current bill is about Rs 7,893, or Rs 7,890 payable once rounded to the nearest Rs 10 as on the bill. A protected home using 0.9 hm3 pays about Rs 1,880.

SNGPL is Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, supplying Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad. The government kept the gas prices of 1 July 2025 unchanged for 2026-27, so the slabs below are still current.

How a gas bill is worked out

Gas is priced per MMBTU (million British thermal units), not per cubic metre. So the bill takes three steps.

  1. Convert your gas to MMBTU. MMBTU = (m³ ÷ 28.17385) × GCV ÷ 1,000. One hm3 is 100 m³. GCV is the heat value of the gas, printed on your bill, and it changes a little each month.
  2. Apply the slab rates. You get the benefit of one previous slab: the gas up to the previous slab's limit is charged at that slab's rate, the rest at your slab's rate.
  3. Add fixed charge, meter rent and GST. Fixed charge is Rs 600 for protected homes, and Rs 1,500 (up to 1.5 hm3) or Rs 3,000 (above 1.5 hm3) for non-protected. Meter rent is Rs 40. GST is 18%. These figures and the slab limits are for 30 days. SNGPL scales them by the days between your two meter readings, so a 31-day bill carries a fixed charge of Rs 620 and meter rent of Rs 41.33.
  4. Round the total. The amount payable within the due date is rounded to the nearest Rs 10. After the due date a late payment surcharge of 10% of the current bill is added.

Worked example: 1.2 hm3, non-protected, GCV 942

120 m³ ÷ 28.17385 × 942 ÷ 1,000 = 4.01 MMBTU. 1.2 hm3 is in the 1.0 to 1.5 slab (Rs 1,450). The gas up to 1.0 hm3 gets the previous slab's Rs 1,250.

Line Working Rs
Gas charges 3.344 × 1250 + 0.669 × 1450 5,149.03
Fixed charge non-protected 1,500.00
Meter rent 40.00
GST 18% 1,204.03
Total 7,893.06

GCV changes a little every month. With GCV 920 the same gas comes to Rs 7,751.16. With GCV 980 it is Rs 8,138.15. Use the figure on your own bill.

Worked example: a real 31-day SNGPL bill

This is a protected SNGPL bill from September 2026. The readings were taken on 24 August and 24 September 2026, which is 31 days. The meter showed 0.541 hm3 at a GCV of 942, printed on the bill as 1.807 MMBTU.

For 31 days every 30-day limit is multiplied by 31/30. The protected 0.5 hm3 limit becomes 0.5167 hm3 and the 0.6 hm3 limit becomes 0.62 hm3. So 0.541 hm3 is in the Rs 300 slab, and the gas up to 0.5167 hm3 gets the previous slab's Rs 250.

Line Working Rs
Gas charges 1.726 × 250 + 0.081 × 300 455.81
Fixed charge 600 × 31/30 620.00
Meter rent 40 × 31/30 41.33
GST 18% of 1,117.14 201.09
Current bill 1,318.23
Payable within due date rounded to Rs 10 1,320
Payable after due date current bill plus 10% 1,450

The printed bill shows gas charges of Rs 455.86 and a current bill of Rs 1,318.28, a few paisa away. The fixed charge, meter rent, GST and both payable amounts match. To reproduce your own bill, enter the days between readings and, if you like, the MMBTU figure printed on it.

Domestic gas rates 2026-27

The 1.5 hm3 line

For non-protected homes, the fixed charge doubles from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 once use passes 1.5 hm3. The slab rate also moves from Rs 1,450 to Rs 1,900.

  • 1.50 hm3: Rs 9,675.46
  • 1.51 hm3: Rs 12,316.83

One extra cubic metre adds about Rs 2,641. In winter, when geysers and heaters run for hours, this is the line to watch.

The government has asked the IMF to approve a single gas rate with targeted subsidy in place of the slabs. As of September 2026 that plan was not in force.

This is an estimate. The gas figure depends on the GCV printed on your SNGPL bill, and the starting GCV of 942 is only an example. qaaf is not linked to SNGPL or OGRA. Arrears, withholding tax and any other lines on your bill are not included. The after due date figure uses the 10% late payment surcharge for homes. Pay the amount on your own bill.

Questions people ask

How do I calculate my SNGPL gas bill?

Convert your gas use to MMBTU using the GCV on your bill: (m³ ÷ 28.17385) × GCV ÷ 1,000. Apply the slab rates with one previous slab benefit. Add the fixed charge (Rs 600, Rs 1,500 or Rs 3,000), Rs 40 meter rent and 18% GST. These are for 30 days; for a 31-day reading period multiply the fixed charge, meter rent and slab limits by 31/30.

What is 1 unit of sui gas price in Pakistan?

Gas is not sold by the unit. It is priced per MMBTU, from Rs 200 for the lowest protected slab to Rs 4,200 for non-protected use above 4 hm3. At GCV 942, one hm3 is about 3.34 MMBTU.

Did SNGPL gas prices change in July 2026?

No. OGRA proposed lower prices for 2026-27, but the government decided to keep the prices of 1 July 2025 unchanged. The slabs, fixed charges and meter rent on this page are the ones in force in September 2026.

Who is a protected gas consumer?

A home whose average gas use in November to February was 0.9 hm3 or less. Protected homes pay Rs 200 to Rs 350 per MMBTU and a fixed charge of Rs 600. Everyone else is non-protected.
