An Allied Bank IBAN is PK, two check digits, ABPA and your 16-digit account number, which usually starts 0010. Allied Bank's own IBAN tool asks for exactly these 16 digits.
Type them above and the IBAN appears. For 0010012345670011 it is PK56 ABPA 0010 0123 4567 0011.
ABL account number: 16 digits, sometimes shown as 20
| Part | Example | Digits |
|---|---|---|
| Country | PK | 2 letters |
| Check digits | 56 | 2 |
| Bank code | ABPA | 4 letters |
| Account number | 0010012345670011 | 16 |
Some documents show ABL numbers as 20 digits: the 4-digit branch code, then the 16-digit account number. Allied Bank's own sheet of account formats describes both 13 digits (branch code and 9 digits) and 20 digits (branch code and 16 digits). The IBAN uses only the 16-digit account number. If you type all 20 digits, the calculator drops the branch code for you.
The rule matches real ABL IBANs printed with their account numbers, including one printed as branch code plus 16 digits. If your number has 13 digits, get the 16-digit number from the myABL app or the branch.
Finding your ABL account number and IBAN
The 16-digit account number and the IBAN are under account details in the myABL app. The account number is also on your cheque book and statement. Allied Bank's IBAN page gives a sample, PK36ABPA0000123456789012, to show the layout; it is an illustration and does not pass the ISO check, so do not use it to test a tool.
Worked example: account 0010012345670011
Account number 0010012345670011:
- 16-digit part: the account number itself, 0010012345670011.
- Rearranged: ABPA0010012345670011PK00.
- Letters to numbers (A = 10, B = 11, P = 25, K = 20): 101125100010012345670011252000.
- Remainder after dividing by 97: 42. Check digits: 98 minus 42 = 56.
IBAN: PK56 ABPA 0010 0123 4567 0011. For other banks, see the IBAN generator for all banks.
What happens if two digits are swapped
Suppose a relative copies your IBAN as PK56 ABPA 0010 0123 4576 0011, swapping the 6 and the 7. Run it through Check an IBAN. Once PK and the check digits are moved to the end and the letters turned into numbers, dividing by 97 leaves 54 instead of 1, so it fails. Those digits would only be valid with check digits 03.
Your real IBAN, PK56 ABPA 0010 0123 4567 0011, leaves 1 and passes. Any one wrong digit, or two side-by-side digits swapped, is caught the same way.
Common mistakes with ABL IBANs
- Typing the 20-digit number and keeping the branch code. The IBAN has room for 16 digits only. The calculator drops the first four digits of a 20-digit number for you, so 0531-0010018634650016 becomes PK43 ABPA 0010 0186 3465 0016.
- Using an old 13-digit number. A branch code plus 9 digits gives a different IBAN from the one Allied Bank issues. The calculator warns you; get the 16-digit number from myABL first.
- Testing a tool with Allied Bank's sample. The sample on ABL's IBAN page, PK36ABPA0000123456789012, is a layout and fails the check. For those 16 digits the check digits would be 05.
- Mixing up ABL with Askari or Al Baraka. Their codes are ASCM and AIIN. Only ABPA is Allied Bank.
Confirm the IBAN in myABL or on your statement before you share it, because money sent to a wrong IBAN is hard to get back. qaaf is not connected with Allied Bank.
Allied Bank IBAN questions
What is Allied Bank's IBAN bank code?
ABPA. It comes straight after PK and the two check digits in every ABL IBAN, and it matches the start of Allied Bank's SWIFT code.
How many digits is an Allied Bank account number?
The account number used in the IBAN has 16 digits and usually begins 0010. Statements may add a 4-digit branch code in front, making 20. The IBAN leaves the branch code out.
My ABL account number has 13 digits. What do I do?
That is the older format: a 4-digit branch code and a 9-digit account number. The IBAN is built from the 16-digit number, so get your 16-digit number or IBAN from myABL or the branch.
Can I check an ABL IBAN before sending money?
Yes. Switch to Check an IBAN and paste it. A valid ABL IBAN has 24 characters, starts PK, has ABPA in characters 5 to 8 and passes the mod 97 test. Your banking app then shows the account title before you confirm.
Why does my ABL statement show 20 digits?
Some Allied Bank documents print the 4-digit branch code in front of the 16-digit account number. The IBAN keeps only the 16 digits after the branch code. Type all 20 and the calculator removes the branch code for you.
