UVAS merit is 30% Matric plus 70% Intermediate Part I. There is no entry test. The university's own example, Matric 900/1,100 and Part I 540/555, gives 92.6535%.

UVAS says all calculations are done "up to 4 decimal places without rounding", so the calculator cuts off after four decimals instead of rounding. Enter your marks with the totals printed on your own mark sheets.

The UVAS merit formula

Merit = (Matric ÷ total × 30) + (Inter Part I ÷ total × 70), cut to four decimals.

UVAS's own example

  1. Matric: 900 ÷ 1,100 × 30 = 24.5454 (the full figure is 24.54545..., cut to 24.5454)
  2. Part I: 540 ÷ 555 × 70 = 68.1081
  3. Merit: 92.6535%

Note the Part I total of 555 in that example. Board totals differ, so always enter your own.

Second example

Matric 1,000 out of 1,100 and Part I 480 out of 550.

  1. Matric: 1,000 ÷ 1,100 × 30 = 27.2727
  2. Part I: 480 ÷ 550 × 70 = 61.0909
  3. Merit: 88.3636%

Why Part I decides your UVAS merit

Part I carries 70% of the merit on a total of about 550, so one Part I mark is worth about 0.127 points. One Matric mark out of 1,100 is worth about 0.027 points. A single extra Part I mark counts for almost five Matric marks.

This table keeps Matric at 950 out of 1,100 and changes only the Part I marks (out of 550):

Part I marks UVAS merit
400 76.8181%
450 83.1818%
480 87.0000%
500 89.5454%
520 92.0909%

If you are improving Part I marks, check with UVAS how improved marks are treated before you count on them.

Why truncation matters

Rounding and truncating differ only in the fourth decimal. On a merit list where hundreds of candidates sit within one mark, that can move you a place or two. A calculator that rounds can show a figure 0.0001 higher than UVAS's own.

For Matric 1,000 out of 1,100 the Matric part is 27.272727... UVAS keeps 27.2727. Rounded to four places it would also be 27.2727, but for 900 out of 1,100 the full figure 24.545454... rounds to 24.5455 and truncates to 24.5454. That last digit is why UVAS's own example ends in 6535, not 6536.

UVAS programmes and campuses

For 2026 UVAS offered 15 undergraduate degree programmes across four campuses, in morning and evening sessions. They include DVM, pharmacy, applied microbiology, medical lab technology, human nutrition and dietetics, food science, biotechnology, biochemistry, environmental science, biology, computer science, BBA, poultry science, dairy technology and zoology.

Applications for 2026 closed on 24 July 2026. The admissions page also carries the discipline-wise merit of the previous year, which is the best guide to the aggregate each programme needs. Compare your figure with the merit for the same programme, campus and session.

Common mistakes

  • Using full Intermediate marks. UVAS counts Part I only. Entering 1,000 out of 1,100 for the whole of FSc gives a very different answer.
  • Rounding up. Truncate at four decimals, as UVAS does. The calculator does this for you.
  • Assuming a test score counts. There is no entry test in the 2026 merit formula, so an MDCAT or other test score has no place here.
  • O and A level marks without equivalence. If you studied O level, convert your grades first with the IBCC equivalence calculator and enter the marks it gives.

Hafiz-e-Quran. UVAS adds 20 marks for Hafiz-e-Quran candidates, subject to a test. The calculator adds them to your Part I marks when you tick the box: with Matric 950 and Part I 480, the merit rises from 87.0000% to 89.5454%. For a similar no-test formula, see the GCU Lahore merit calculator.

UVAS merit questions

How is UVAS merit calculated?

UVAS uses 30% Matric and 70% Intermediate Part I, with no entry test. Results are cut to four decimals without rounding. For Matric 900/1,100 and Part I 540/555 the merit is 24.5454 + 68.1081 = 92.6535%, the example UVAS itself publishes.

Is there an entry test for UVAS?

Not in the 2026 merit formula. UVAS merit is based only on Matric (30%) and Intermediate Part I (70%) marks. Some programmes still have other eligibility conditions, such as subject combinations, so read the admission notice for your programme.

Why does my UVAS merit differ from another calculator?

Calculators that round will differ in the last digit. UVAS truncates, so 24.54545 becomes 24.5454. Some sites also use full FSc instead of Part I, which gives a quite different answer.

Does UVAS give Hafiz marks?

Yes, 20 marks for Hafiz-e-Quran candidates, subject to a test by the university. Tick the Hafiz box and the calculator adds them to your Part I marks. With Part I at 70% weight, 20 marks out of 550 adds about 2.5 points.

What merit do I need for DVM at UVAS?

It changes every year with the number of applicants. UVAS publishes the previous year's discipline-wise merit on its admissions page. Work out your own figure here and compare it with the last merit for DVM at the campus and session you want.
