Sindh charges a fixed yearly motor vehicle tax by engine size: Rs 1,500 up to 1000cc, Rs 2,000 for 1001 to 1300cc, rising to Rs 7,000 above 2500cc. With section 234 income tax, a 1300cc car pays Rs 4,500 a year for a filer and Rs 7,000 for a non-filer.
Sindh does not use invoice value, so the price box above does not change the result. Owners of cars up to 1000cc can pay once instead of every year. Select the lifetime option to see that amount for your car's age.
Sindh motor vehicle tax rates
Private cars, jeeps and motorcycles. These rates have applied since 1 July 2019.
| Engine | Sindh motor vehicle tax |
|---|---|
| Up to 1,000cc | Rs 1,500 a year; or once: Rs 20,000 new, Rs 15,000 under 5 yrs, Rs 10,000 under 10 yrs, Rs 8,000 older |
| 1,001 to 1,300cc | Rs 2,000 a year |
| 1,301 to 1,600cc | Rs 4,000 a year |
| 1,601 to 2,000cc | Rs 4,500 a year |
| 2,001 to 2,500cc | Rs 5,000 a year |
| Above 2,500cc | Rs 7,000 a year |
| Motorcycle Up to 149cc | Rs 1,800 once (lifetime) |
| Motorcycle Above 149cc | Rs 3,000 once (lifetime) |
Section 234 income tax is added to the car amounts; it is the biggest part of the bill for most cars in Sindh.
Worked example
1800cc car, non-filer
| Step | Amount |
|---|---|
| Sindh motor vehicle tax, 1601 to 2000cc | Rs 4,500 |
| Section 234 tax, 1600 to 1999cc, non-filer (double) | Rs 9,000 |
| Yearly total | Rs 13,500 |
As a filer the same car pays Rs 4,500 + Rs 4,500 = Rs 9,000. Getting on the Active Taxpayers List saves Rs 4,500 a year here.
Lifetime tax for cars up to 1000cc
A car up to 1000cc can pay Rs 20,000 once at first registration instead of Rs 1,500 a year. A car already on the road can switch to a one-time payment too, and the amount falls with age:
| Age of car | One-time tax |
|---|---|
| New, at registration | Rs 20,000 |
| Under 5 years | Rs 15,000 |
| 5 to 10 years | Rs 10,000 |
| Over 10 years | Rs 8,000 |
When you pay once, section 234 is also collected as a lump sum: Rs 10,000 for a filer. So a six-year-old 800cc car switching to lifetime pays Rs 10,000 + Rs 10,000 = Rs 20,000, against Rs 2,300 a year (Rs 1,500 + Rs 800). Section 234 stops once the car is ten years old, which makes the lifetime option cheaper for older cars.
Sindh registration fee
Charged once when a new vehicle is registered, as a share of its value. Section 231B advance tax is added for cars.
| Vehicle | Sindh registration fee |
|---|---|
| Car or jeep Up to 1,000cc | 1% of value |
| Car or jeep 1,001 to 1,300cc | 1.25% of value |
| Car or jeep 1,301 to 2,500cc | 2.25% of value |
| Car or jeep Above 2,500cc | 5% of value |
| Motorcycle Up to 149cc | 1% of value |
| Motorcycle Above 149cc | 2% of value |
Transfer fees and the full cost of a new registration are worked out in the vehicle transfer fee calculator.
Section 234 tax with the Sindh token
In Sindh this federal advance tax is often bigger than the provincial tax itself. Excise collects it with the token at FBR's 2026-27 rates, doubled for a non-filer.
| Engine | Yearly, filer | Yearly, non-filer | Lump sum, filer | Lump sum, non-filer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 1,000cc | Rs 800 | Rs 1,600 | Rs 10,000 | Rs 20,000 |
| 1,001 to 1,199cc | Rs 1,500 | Rs 3,000 | Rs 18,000 | Rs 36,000 |
| 1,200 to 1,299cc | Rs 1,750 | Rs 3,500 | Rs 20,000 | Rs 40,000 |
| 1,300 to 1,499cc | Rs 2,500 | Rs 5,000 | Rs 30,000 | Rs 60,000 |
| 1,500 to 1,599cc | Rs 3,750 | Rs 7,500 | Rs 45,000 | Rs 90,000 |
| 1,600 to 1,999cc | Rs 4,500 | Rs 9,000 | Rs 60,000 | Rs 120,000 |
| Above 1,999cc | Rs 10,000 | Rs 20,000 | Rs 120,000 | Rs 240,000 |
The tax is adjustable against your income tax for the year, and section 234(2A) stops it for a car in use in Pakistan for more than ten years. When you take Sindh's one-time payment for a car up to 1000cc, the lump sum column applies.
Sindh's 2025-26 budget cut the yearly motor vehicle tax for commercial vehicles only. Private cars, jeeps and motorcycles stay on the amounts above. Electric and commercial vehicles have their own rates. Check the amount on the Sindh Excise tax portal before you pay.

Sindh vehicle tax questions
How do I pay Sindh vehicle token tax online?
Use the Excise Sindh app or Sindh Excise's online tax portal. Enter your registration number, check the tax and any arrears, and pay by debit or credit card, digital banking or mobile wallet. The website also verifies a vehicle online, including by the owner's CNIC.
How much is vehicle tax in Sindh for a 1300cc car?
Rs 2,000 motor vehicle tax plus section 234 income tax. For a 1300cc car the 234 tax is Rs 2,500 for a filer and Rs 5,000 for a non-filer, so the yearly total is Rs 4,500 or Rs 7,000.
Is there a lifetime token tax in Sindh?
Yes, for cars up to 1000cc and for motorcycles. A new small car pays Rs 20,000 once, or Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 or Rs 8,000 if it is already registered, depending on age. Motorcycles pay Rs 1,800 up to 149cc and Rs 3,000 from 150cc, once.
Does Sindh charge token tax on the car's value?
No. Unlike Punjab and Islamabad, Sindh charges a fixed amount by engine size, so a Rs 3 million car and a Rs 10 million car of the same cc pay the same. Value only matters for the registration fee and the 231B advance tax at purchase.
Why is my Sindh token tax bill higher than the rate table?
Most of the bill is federal income tax under section 234, which Sindh Excise collects with the provincial tax. It is doubled for non-filers. Arrears from earlier years also appear on the challan if the tax was not paid on time.
