A car driving licence in Karachi costs Rs 1,940 from start to finish for 5 years: the learner licence with its medical and NADRA charges (Rs 265), then the permanent licence of Rs 1,260 plus lamination, NADRA and medical (Rs 1,675). Sindh charges a fixed fee for 3 or 5 years, not a fee for each year as Punjab does.

What the fixed charges are for
A permanent licence and a renewal carry three fixed charges on top of the licence fee, and a learner licence carries two of them:
- Lamination, Rs 250, for the printed licence card. It is not charged on a learner licence.
- NADRA verification, Rs 65, for checking your CNIC record.
- Medical, Rs 100, for the fitness check required under the Motor Vehicles Ordinance 1965.
That is Rs 415 on a permanent licence or renewal and Rs 165 on a learner licence. A duplicate card (Rs 360) and a learner licence renewal (Rs 100) are listed as fees of their own, and the calculator shows them without these charges. Check the challan for the final amount. Other charges apply only when you need them: PSV endorsement for public service vehicles (Rs 500), correction of particulars (Rs 310), and courier delivery (Rs 38 within Karachi, Rs 55 elsewhere in Sindh).
Minimum age
You must be 18 for a motorcycle or car licence, 21 for LTV or motor cab rickshaw, and 22 for HTV. Once you have the licence, see the vehicle transfer fee if you are buying a used car.
Fees from the Sindh Police Driving License Branch fee structure and the DLS Online fee calculator, checked 9 October 2026. Pay only through the challan issued by the branch or DLS Online, and check the amount printed on it before paying.
