ITU Lahore's merit for BS Computer Science and BS Artificial Intelligence is 50% test and 50% academics. Academics split into 35% Intermediate and 15% Matric. So 60 in the test, 470/550 in Part I and 1,000/1,100 in Matric gives 73.5455%.

This is the split on ITU's admissions page for the 2026 intake, when applications closed on 7 July and undergraduate tests were held on 11 and 12 July. Enter your test score as a percentage, then your Intermediate and Matric marks with their totals.

The ITU formula for CS and AI

Merit = (test ÷ total × 50) + (Intermediate ÷ total × 35) + (Matric ÷ total × 15)

The test can be the ITU admission test, SAT-I or USAT. For Intermediate, ITU accepts Part I, full Intermediate or A level.

Worked example

Test 60 out of 100, Intermediate Part I 470 out of 550, Matric 1,000 out of 1,100.

  1. Test: 60 ÷ 100 × 50 = 30.0000
  2. Intermediate: 470 ÷ 550 × 35 = 29.9091
  3. Matric: 1,000 ÷ 1,100 × 15 = 13.6364
  4. Merit: 73.5455%

Each test percentage point is worth 0.5 merit points. Each Part I mark out of 550 is worth about 0.064 points, and each Matric mark about 0.014.

How the test score moves your merit

Keeping Part I at 470 out of 550 and Matric at 1,000 out of 1,100:

Test score (%) ITU merit
50 68.5455%
60 73.5455%
70 78.5455%
80 83.5455%

To see the test score you need, type a target in the calculator's optional box. With the marks above, a merit of 80 needs 73% in the test.

The first row matters: for BS CS and BS AI, ITU sets 50% in its admission test as the minimum. A score below 50 in the ITU test makes you ineligible, whatever your academic marks.

SAT and USAT instead of the ITU test

For BS CS and BS AI, ITU accepts these in place of its own test:

  • SAT-I with at least 550 in each section, Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing.
  • HEC USAT (USAT-CS, USAT-E or USAT-GS) with at least 50%.

Enter the score you submit as a percentage of that test's total in the first row. ITU applies its own conversion, so treat the figure as an estimate.

Other ITU programmes

ITU publishes an academic and test split for each programme, but breaks "academic" into Matric and Intermediate only for CS and AI.

Programme Academic Test Test minimum
BS CS, BS AI 50% (Matric 15 + Inter 35) 50% 50% in ITU test
BS CS, BS AI (O level only, A level awaited) 35% 65% 50% in ITU test
BS Electrical, Software and Computer Engineering 50% 50% (ITU test, ECAT, USAT or NTS)
BS Management and Technology, BS FinTech 40% 60% (ITU test, SAT-I or NTS) 50% in ITU test
BS Economics with Data Science 50% 50% (ITU test, SAT-I, NTS or USAT) 40% in ITU test

For these, use the general aggregate calculator and enter your academic percentage as one part. Engineering applicants who took ECAT can also check their UET figure with the ECAT aggregate calculator.

Common mistakes

  • Ignoring the test minimum. A merit of 70% means nothing if the ITU test score is below 50.
  • Typing raw SAT marks out of 100. A SAT score of 1,200 is out of 1,600. Change the total, or enter it as a percentage.
  • Using the CS split for engineering. BS EE, SE and Computer Engineering use 50% academic and 50% test without a fixed Matric and Intermediate split.
  • Comparing with FAST or NUST figures. Each university weights the parts differently. See the FAST merit calculator if you are applying there too.

Check the current notice. The split above is the one on ITU's admissions page for the 2026 intake. Read ITU's notice for your intake before relying on the figure, as the university can change it. We do not publish closing merits.

ITU merit questions

How is ITU merit calculated for BS Computer Science?

ITU gives 50% to the admission test (or SAT-I or USAT), 35% to Intermediate and 15% to Matric. For 60/100, 470/550 and 1,000/1,100 the merit is 30 + 29.9091 + 13.6364 = 73.5455%. The same rule applies to BS Artificial Intelligence.

What is the minimum score in the ITU admission test?

For BS CS, BS AI, BS Management and Technology and BS FinTech, ITU asks for at least 50% in its admission test. For BS Economics with Data Science the minimum is 40%. SAT-I needs at least 550 in each section, and USAT at least 50%.

Does ITU accept SAT or USAT?

Yes. For BS CS and BS AI, ITU lists the ITU admission test, SAT-I or USAT for the 50% test part. Engineering programmes also accept ECAT and NTS. Enter whichever score you submit as a percentage of that test's total.

What if I only have O level results?

ITU uses 35% academics and 65% test for CS and AI candidates with O level only or with A level results awaited. ITU does not split that 35% further, so enter your O level IBCC percentage as the academic part in the general calculator.

When are ITU admission tests held?

For the 2026 intake, ITU closed applications on 7 July and held undergraduate tests on 11 and 12 July 2026. Dates for the next intake appear on ITU's admissions page when applications open.
